Worcester Chapter
Outdoor Leadership

  All AMC Worcester Chapter outdoor activities are led by volunteers. Our leaders are skilled in the events they lead. The AMC takes pride in offering an array of outdoor leadership learning opportunities. We encourage our members to become leaders in the outdoor activities they love. If you are interested in becoming an AMC Outdoor Leader, please contact the commitee chair for the type of events you would like to lead. Leadership Events

Saturday CPR and First Aid Training. CPR and First Aid training is required for AMC Chapter Youth Program Leaders and a useful skill for personal, professional and recreational activities. Classes are offered one Saturday morning per month by "Safety Trainers" at the National Safety Council in West Boylston. Classes begin at 8am and end at 12 noon. Cost is $55 for AMC members. Scholarships may be available.Certification is for 2 years.

Class are held on the following dates:

National Safety Council, 186 West Boylston Street (Wachusett Plaza), Route 12, Wachusett Plaza, West Boylston, MA 01583. Contact 508-835-2333 to register. (Safety Council is located in back of the Wachusett Plaza).Directions: Take exit 4 off I-190 to Route 12 North. Proceed for 1 mile - Safety Council is located in back of the Wachusett Plaza. Leadership Training March 8-9, 2008 To All Leaders and co-Leaders;
Even if you've taken this course, if it's been over 2 yrs, please consider joining us for a refresher! Aaron Gorban or Jess Wilson will be here on Saturday to discuss AMC Leadership Requirements & Guidelines and answer questions. Activity: Leadership Training Status: OPEN Join us for two exciting days at Camp Harrington in Boylston, MA packed full of discovery and fun. Learn about your leadership style and group dynamics. Build your skills in trip planning, equipment, and accident scene management just to name a few. We'll spend a day in the classroom and a day outdoors dealing with various scenarios. If you'd like to help make a difference in the life of a child ages 6-18, by leading hikes other or activities for youth organizations and schools, CYP Training is required. SOLO - Wilderness First Aid
Leaders - if you haven't taken WFA now's your chance to do so! And if you took it two years ago it's time to get re-certified. Scholarship is available for those who qualify. This course will be taught by qualified AMC instructors who are certified to teach for SOLO. They are also offering CPR training for those who are interested on Friday night. Activity: Instruction (Skills)
Status: OPEN
Learn how to manage an emergency in the backcountry from qualified AMC Solo certified instructors. This comprehensive two day course at Camp Harrington in Boylston, MA covers standard emergency care with an emphasis on backcountry long-term care and evacuation. Optional CPR training, Friday night. Fees incl., course instruction and meals.

Leadership News

Executive Committee Meetings, last Wednesday of the month at 6pm at the YMCA Harrington Camp in Boylston, MA. Meetings are open to all, but please RSVP to Sharon Foster. If attending. Come join us for dinner before the meeting!

    Help for Online Trips Database

    The online trips database allows leaders to post their own trips for publication and Web posting. Committee Chairs enter new leaders in the database, and leaders enter trips for approval by the Committe Chair and Leadership Chair.
